The Rare Plants of Crete.
Book 2.

This book continues to introduce readers to the amazing world of Crete’s plants. Many plants have become rare, and many are unique.

Crete is a rocky island in the Mediterranean Sea. Over millions of years, many plant and animal species have evolved here that cannot be found anywhere else on the planet. Such flora and fauna are called endemic.

More than 2,000 endemic plants grow on the island. For several thousand years, they have helped fight diseases, fed animals, fertilized the soil, and oxygenated the air.

Many of them today require protection from grazing goats and sheep, and from farmers who destroy these plant populations to expand their fields.

But many plants have amazing medicinal properties, about which we know less and less.

In this book, you will learn about the many interesting medicinal properties of the island’s rare plants.
