Mysteries of Crete

I would like to mention a few of them

disc

Phaistos Disc

This disc was found in the Minoan palace of Phaistos. The text was imprinted on wet clay using seals and then the disc was fired. Approximately dates back to the 17th century BC. For more than a hundred years, scientists around the world have not been able to read the inscription on the disk. We do not even know whether the disc was made in Crete or was brought here from another place.
Frangocastello

Drosoulites of Frangocastello

This is one of the most famous and mysterious phenomena in Crete. Every year in May, in the pre-dawn hours, in the morning fog in front of the Frangokastello fortress, shadows appear that look like people dressed in ancient clothes. Local residents say that these are the souls of soldiers who died trying to break out of the fortress in May 1828.
cave

Labyrinth cave

This cave has been known since Roman times as the Labyrinth of the Minotaur. Most likely, the cave was an ancient quarry where stone was mined. Inscriptions left by the Romans, Byzantines, Turks, and Venetians were found on the walls of the cave. The cave is still unexplored and local residents tell many interesting legends associated with it.
